GERBER Brand

Joseph Gerber started in Portland, Oregon (USA) with an advertising firm in 1910. One Christmas he hired a local knife maker to make a series of 25 knives as gifts for his customers. Such was the popularity of these gifts that Joseph left advertising to start "Gerber Legendary Blades" in 1939.

In 1966 he created the MK II combat knife, which became the preferred knife for use in the Vietnam War.

In 1986 it was acquired by"Fiskars Corporation", a multinational company created in 1649 in the small town of Fiskars in Finland, which is today the world's leading manufacturer of scissors and tools for gardening and hardware.

In 1991, the Multi-Plier (Multi-Tool) was introduced, becoming one of its most popular products just two years later.
Gerber multitools are very similar to those of the Leatherman brand, but with some differences, such as the system of opening the pliers with one hand and a slight wrist movement.
